About the event
Welcoming you to a beautiful mid-week offering on September's full moon.
My usual monthly evening gong journey, offering you the chance to be transported with the gong into deep rest and meditation with the beautiful opportunity to join Katherine Woodhouse before hand on the beach for a yoga flow soaked in the sounds of the sea.
The Yoga: Meet Katherine on the beach at 6pm for an hour of yoga as the waves provide a steady soundtrack, their tide being pulled by the full moon.
Then, take a dip or a walk or rest on the beach before heading up to The Old Woodyard just a few minutes away for a 90 minute experience of relaxation and gong meditation with time to gently return to daily life through quiet rest with herbal tea. The Old Woodyard is the most beautiful venue close to Dunwich Beach with floor to ceiling courtyard views.
The Sauna will also be available for use on the day and can be booked at 5pm direct with SaunaBox if you would like to add this on.
Please Note: This booking is a combined ticket for Yoga with Katherine and Gong Bath with Katie only. The elements can be booked individually and if you wish to book Yoga only please click here. If you wish to book Gong Bath only, tickets are available here.
What will happen in the Gong Bath?
You are invited to sit or lie in a comfortable position and begin to sink into your body through guided meditation. This is followed by an immersion in the transformative soundscape of gongs, singing bowls and other grounding instruments to bring balance to body, mind and soul.
Gong baths are associated with deep relaxation by activating the parasympathetic nervous system bringing you into a state of rest and digest. Many people experience feelings of deep peace, balance, and calm whilst others feel grounded, focused or energised. Gong meditation is associated with dropping people into theta and delta brainwaves (those associated with sleep) and therefore many people can experience sleepiness, drowsiness and the letting go of anxiety, stress or tension. The restorative benefits of sleep are well-documented and the dropping into these brain states is thought to explain why, for many, the benefits of gong baths are so powerful.
Occasionally, people may feel emotional during or following a gong bath as our vibrations and energies shift and change. This is normal and feelings of discomfort often change and ease with the changing sounds.
The journey with the gong will be channelling the 'highest good' to bring you the sounds which are right for you and all that is required is an openess to receiving these sounds.
What do I need to bring?
You will be sent a full list of what to bring upon booking however, bring whatever you need to be warm and comfortable including, yoga mat (for yoga) cosy blankets, something padded to lie on (more than a yoga mat), an eye pillow and extra layers (for gong). Your temperature drops during deep relaxation so bring more than you think you will need to be warm.
Who is this not suitable for?
Gong meditation is not suitable for early pregnancy, people experiencing severe mental health conditions or sound induced epilepsy. Those with metal implants, pace makers, heart conditions, vertigo and sound sensitivities are advised to seek medical advice prior to attending a gong bath. Some people who use hearing aids or devices may find gong sound uncomfortable. Your comfort is key, if you have difficulty lying on the floor for 60-90 minutes, please contact me to discuss alternative options.
Whilst all participants are asked to fill in a risk questionairre, I am not a medical professional and participants attend the gong bath at their own risk and taking full responsbility for their own health and wellbeing. It is important you read the full terms and conditions when booking and advise both Katherine and/or myself of any injuries, pregnancy or other health related concerns prior to attending.
If you are uncertain whether to attend, please consult a medical professional prior to booking.
This is an adult only event. Please see website for children/young people events or to book and adult/child private session.
What do I need to know:
Yoga Venue: Meet on Dunwich Beach 6pm- 7pm
Gong Venue: The Old Woodyard Monastery Hill, Dunwich, IP173BQ (7.30-9pm - due to the need for preparing the space I ask gently that people do not arrive early).
This location is approximately a 2 minute drive, 5 minute walk from Dunwich Beach. PLEASE NOTE access is off Westleton Rd or Monastery Hill.(NB the sat nav may take you to the Hight Street). This link shows the exact location at the junction of these two roads https://maps.app.goo.gl/pW8Svun4abvtBTYd7
Free parking on both sites (please park with consideration for your fellow participants at The Old Woodyard)
Accessibility at a glance:
The Beach has step free access but is a heavy pebble beach which is sloping and unlevel in places. There is a short walk from the car park to the beach yoga location across this uneven ground.
The Old Woodyard: This is a ground floor venue, with low gate and uneven paved path from car park. There is an uneven threshold and small step down into the venue. Toilet is also ground floor with level threshold. Please contact me for further detail in relation to accessibility.
The locations of my gong baths are extremely important to me and many offer participants the opportunity to connect with nature pre or post session. This location offers floor to ceiling views over a courtyard space and is 5 minute walk of the beautiful Dunwich Beach. Please note, any nature exploration is not part of the gong session and is at the participants own risk.
Cancellation Policy
No refund or ticket transfer available once booked . If an event is cancelled you will be offered a refund or ticket transfer. Please see terms and conditions for full details.
Concessions
It is my aim to make gong sessions as inclusive as possible and whilst the fee for the session reflects the quality, length and location of the gong bath, I am aware that in a challenging economic climate, this may be out of reach for some. If you would like to attend but are unable to pay the full cost, I always offer a limited number of partially and fully funded spaces per session. Please contact me to book. No questions asked.
